Fiscal responsibility is essential for keeping our schools sustainable. As Commissioner, I will make the most of our resources to reach our educational goals, benefiting students, teachers, and taxpayers.
-
Addressing the literacy crisis should be a top priority for the IPS Board of Commissioners. Literacy is foundational to academic success and lifelong learning. I will advocate for the implementation of robust early intervention programs in all schools, to identify and support readers, including screenings in PreK and Kindergarten with targeted interventions.
-
As Commissioner, I will lead with a focus on educational justice, ensuring that students are at the center, families are empowered, and educations have the autonomy and flexibility to meet students' needs. I am committed to making our schools the top choice for all families.
-
Achieving equity in our district begins with conducting a resource equity audit to identify disparities in how funding and resources are allocated according to student needs. As Commissioner, I will work to create an equity index to guide funding decisions, ensuring that schools with higher needs receive additional resources, innovative thinking around potential partnerships, and regularly monitor and address these inequities, ensuring that all students have fair access to the opportunities required for academic success.

Our students deserve pathways to success beyond graduation. I will continue to champion the expansion of the districts Future Centers in alignment with the districts 3E strategy: Enrollment, Employment or Enlistment
